What we collect, and what we do with it.

The short versionOnly four things are public

If you create a recipient page, part of it is meant to be seen by the world – that is the entire point. Your first name, the organ or organs you need, your photograph, and your story are public. Anyone can read them without an account, and search engines can index them.

Everything else stays off the public internet. Your age, state and blood type are visible to people who create an account. Your legal name and date of birth are shared only with a donor you have chosen to connect with, so your transplant hospital can identify you. Your email address and phone number are never shared with anyone – conversations happen through the Service. None of it is ever sold.

If you are considering donating, your profile is never public at all. You are not listed, not searchable, and not visible to recipients until you choose to contact someone.

1Who this covers

This policy applies to Transplant Organizers Inc. – this website and our service (together, the “Service”). Wherever it says “we” or “us,” it means Transplant Organizers Inc.

We currently offer the Service only to people in the United States. It is not directed at people elsewhere, and we do not knowingly accept accounts from them.

2What we collect

Information you give us

Account details – your email address and password
Identity – your first name and last initial, your legal name, and your date of birth
Contact details – email address and, if you choose to give it, phone number
Profile information – the organ you need or are willing to donate, blood type, height, weight, gender, ethnicity, your state, and the hospital where you are registered
Progress information – where you are in the process once you connect with someone, such as whether hospital evaluation has begun and what step comes next
Your photographs and your story – what you upload for your page
Messages – anything you send another person through the Service
Emails to us – including the photographs and details people send to info@transplantorganizers.com
Payment details, if we ever charge you – We are currently not charging anyone. If that changes, payments will be handled by Stripe and we will never store your card number

Information we collect automatically

The basic technical information any website receives – IP address, browser type, and the pages you request – recorded by our host to keep the Service running and to defend against abuse
In the logged-in service, device type, operating system, and basic usage information, so we can find faults and fix them

A note about sensitive information. Some of what you share is medical – which organ is failing, your blood type, where you are treated – and we also ask for ethnicity, because it can bear on compatibility. We treat all of it as sensitive, and we never share it with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else for their own purposes. What you choose to put on your public page – your first name, the organ you need, your photo, and your story – is public because you published it, and section 3 explains exactly where that line sits. This note is about everything else we hold. Please also read section 8 about HIPAA, because it does not mean what most people assume.

3What is public, and what is not

This is the most important section on this page.

If you need a donor, four things are public: your first name, the organ or organs you need, your photograph, and the story you wrote. Anyone can read them without an account.

Everything else is private – your legal name and last initial, date of birth and age, gender, ethnicity, height and weight, your state, blood type, treating hospital, email address, phone number, every message, and your account information.

That boundary is enforced in our database, not merely by the website choosing not to display it. The public site can only read a restricted view containing the four public fields, and the private ones are not readable by anyone else's account.

If you are considering donating, nothing about you is public. There is no public directory of potential donors, and recipients cannot browse or contact you. You decide who to approach and when.

What changes once you connect

Creating an account puts nothing new on the public internet.

Potential donors browse recipients one at a time and decide whether to reach out. If you are a potential donor, reaching out to someone shows that person your profile – that is how they decide whether to accept. Nobody sees your profile until you choose to reach out to them.

If a recipient accepts, the two of you are connected, and you can message each other through the Service. From that point the donor can also see what the recipient's transplant hospital needs in order to identify them and begin: the recipient's legal name, date of birth, the hospital where they are registered, and that hospital's donor questionnaire link. That is visible to the person you connected with and to nobody else. Email addresses and phone numbers are never shared – not even after you connect. Conversations happen through the Service, and from the questionnaire on, the hospital takes it from there.

4Public means public, including search engines

We want to be blunt about this, because it is the part people underestimate.

A public recipient page can be found by anyone. Google and other search engines can index it, other sites can link to it, and anyone can screenshot, copy, or share it. That reach is the reason the page works. It is also permanent in ways we cannot control.

If you take your page down, we remove it from our site and ask search engines to drop it, but we cannot delete copies other people or services have already made. Please decide what to publish with that in mind. If you are unsure, share less – you can always add more later.

5How we use your information

To let people reach you through the Service, and to let you reply
To operate, support, and improve the Service
To keep people safe – investigating fraud, harassment, impersonation, and anyone attempting to buy or sell an organ
To contact you about your account, and to answer you when you write to us

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give it to advertisers. We will not use your story or photograph to promote the company without asking you first, separately, in writing.

How we get your permission to publish

Nothing about you is published unless you asked for it. If you build your own page, you choose what goes on it and you decide when it goes live.

You can change your mind. You can edit your page or take it down at any time, and section 4 explains what we can and cannot undo once something has been public.

6Messages between people

Messages are private between the two people in the conversation. They are not public and they are not sold.

They are not end-to-end encrypted, and we can access them where we genuinely need to: to investigate a report of abuse or fraud, to comply with a valid legal demand, or to fix a technical fault. We do not read messages routinely, and we do not analyze them to sell you anything.

You can block anyone, and you can report anyone. You must be signed in to contact someone, so every conversation is tied to a real account and is traceable. That is deliberate.

7Who else touches your information

We use a small number of providers to run the Service. They process information on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.

Supabase – database, authentication, and file storage
Netlify – the website host behind these pages; it serves the site and records standard server logs
Microsoft 365 – the email service behind info@transplantorganizers.com
Resend – sends automatic emails from the Service, such as sign-in and notification messages
Stripe – payment processing, if and when we ever charge for anything. Stripe receives card details directly; we do not
Google Fonts – our pages load typefaces from Google, which receives your IP address when a page loads. It receives nothing else

This website runs no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no third-party cookies. We store nothing in your browser for advertising or measurement. When you sign in, the logged-in service keeps a sign-in token in your browser so that you stay signed in. That is what it is for, and it is the only thing we store there.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to prevent serious harm.

8We are not a HIPAA covered entity

People assume anything involving medical information is covered by HIPAA. It usually is not, and it is not here.

HIPAA applies to health plans, health care providers, and health care clearinghouses. Transplant Organizers is none of those. We are not a hospital, a transplant center, an organ procurement organization, or a medical provider, and we treat nobody. So the information you give us is not protected health information under HIPAA, and we will not claim otherwise.

What that means in practice: your protections here are the ones written in this policy and in our Terms, not the ones you have with your hospital. Your hospital's obligations to you are unchanged, and we never receive your medical records from them.

The same is true of your hospital's donor questionnaire. Your profile can carry a link to it, so that someone considering donation can go straight to the right form. That form belongs to the hospital and is completed on the hospital's own site. We never see it, we never receive the answers, and we hold no part of it – we only hold the link you gave us.

9How long we keep things

Your page – until you take it down or close your account
Your account – until you ask us to delete it
Messages – kept while both accounts exist, so neither person loses a conversation the other still needs
Server logs – kept for about 30 days for security and troubleshooting, then deleted

“Active” means your account is in use. It does not mean you are paying us anything. We will not delete your page or your conversations because you stopped subscribing.

After you delete your account we remove your public page promptly. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period before it ages out, and we may keep records we are legally required to keep.

10Age limit

You must be 18 or older to create an account, whether you need a donor or are considering becoming one. There are no exceptions.

This is stricter than it may sound, and it is deliberate. Everything on a recipient page is published to the open internet and can be found by search engines. We are not willing to make that decision on behalf of someone who cannot make it for themselves.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has created an account, we will delete it and the information in it. To report one, write to info@transplantorganizers.com.

11Your choices

Edit anything on your page at any time
Take your page down when you no longer need it up, including after a successful transplant
Close your account and have your information deleted, subject to section 9
Ask what information we have about you – we will tell you
Stop hearing from us – automated emails carry an unsubscribe link, and you can reply to any message from us, or write to info@transplantorganizers.com, and we will stop

To do any of these, email info@transplantorganizers.com. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law; write to us and we will honor them.

12Security

Your connection to this site is encrypted, and our database provider encrypts stored data. Access to private information is restricted at the database level rather than hidden by the website, and access to internal systems is limited to the people who need it.

We will not tell you your information is perfectly safe, because no company can honestly say that. If a breach affects you, we will tell you.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do we will change the date at the top, and if a change materially affects what is public about you or how we use your information, we will tell you directly rather than quietly editing this page.
